San Diego ad agency offers 5 Tips on Investment Advertising online
As a 22-year-old San Diego ad agency, we've seen, and survived, many ebbs & flows in the economy. We were almost taken out after 9/11. We had all the worst working...being an ad agency when advertising was being deleted; living in San Diego where the COL already made running a business here a challenge and having a significent number of resort hotel clients when travel was simply stopped completely. Triple ouch!
But we've never experienced anything like this current financial landscape. Ugh! Yet, through it all we've survived in San Diego still operating as a successful ad agency.
Expo East Budget
Currently, we are all weathering the worst economy seen since the 1920's. Because of this, many will make the knee-jerk reaction to slash marketing budgets. This is possibly one of the worst decisions that can be made by a struggling business. Instead of ensuring invisibility in the marketplace, you can continue to make bold statements…only be mindful of a budget.
7 Mistakes People Make When Prepping for Expo East (+BONUS EXTRA TIP)
Mistake #1: Chairs for booth attendants
It sends the wrong message—to the person approaching AND the folks working the booth. You don't want the potential customer to feel as if they're putting someone out to get up & take care of them. Staff will get the wrong idea about the reason they're there. Plus, it's human to get comfortable, get involved in a conversation and lose track of working the booth.
What's It Gonna Take at Expo East...?
I learned a long time ago, from one of my favorite all-time clients—David Jenkins, founder of Next Proteins—that if you want a better answer—ask a better question.
Do you know of anyone who starts out with the thought of having a non-productive show at Natural Products Expo East (Or, any other trade show for that matter?)?
Of course not.
Many companies ask the question before going to Expo East—"How can we keep our costs down for this show?" Or, "What can we reuse from last years booth?"
Six Vital Things to Remember for your Trade Show
Getting a trade show booth set up is a daunting prospect. Something almost always gets forgotten, from the technical, to the trivial, to the big-picture conceptual. Quantum put together a list of things people forget when getting ready for a show, and I'm going to present them in segments, in no particular order. Here's the first 6:
Facebook sells $1.2 billion in ads
You read that right...1.2 Billion, with "B" as in "buh buh buh"
Interestingly, Facebook's fastest growing area comes from its self-serve ad platform, which launched in August 2007. "We believe it accounted for about half of all ad spending on Facebook," eMarketer senior analyst Debra Aho Williamson said. "It's really become a tremendous business for the company. We didn't account for the size of that business last year in our estimate, but we found that it's become a great tool for direct-marketing advertisers."
Who would have thought, a mere two years ago or so, when people were doubting any dot-com could ever make money, this would be happening?
Who's driving sales at GM? You'll never guess
AdAge has an article detailing the marketing push that's leading BUICK of all brands to drive sales at GM.
A new design and a marketing shift to a younger audience have helped U.S. sales of Buick's Enclave, Regal and LaCrosse skyrocket since last year -- and even more so in China, where it is the No. 1 brand.
To steal a line from the classic Oldsmobile campaign, this is not your (grand)father's car any more.
Social Media in Action!
We have been so busy here at the Enemy of Good Enough optimizing our clients through social media, we have neglected our own blog. Here's a quick summary to bring you up to speed. Quantum began a social media campaign for 8th Continent in May. 8th Continent makes soy milk and is a national brand. Upon launching the social media program for 8th Continent, we did some checking into their Alexa ranking. Alexa ranks every single web site floating out there in the atmosphere and ranks them based on their site traffic. Many things drive the rankings but keeping content fresh and relevant is a biggie. In the world of Alexa rankings, smaller is better. In other words, the idea is to have the lowest possible number. In May, 8th Continent's Al
