The Enemy of Good Enough in Action

Re-Branding the Royal Lahaina Resort in Maui

Client:
The Royal Lahaina Resort, Maui, Hawaii

We Re-Branded this Ka'anapali Beach resort to coincide with a multi-million dollar "rehabilitation" of the facility. At the time of this effort, no other resort in Hawaii owned the positioning of authentic Hawaii. So, we developed positioning for the Royal Lahaina as the most authentic Hawaiian resort in Hawaii. The positioning was adopted throughout the property, from the Luaus to the apparel of the staff to all of the advertising and collateral material.

We chose to use illustration instead of photography to convey the unique position. Notice in the samples shown, the illustration of the authentic Hawaiian dance.

A Walk To Remember

Client:
Loews Ventana Canyon Resort

Set in gorgeous Catalina Mountain foothills, the Ventana Canyon Resort is home to the only five-Diamond restaurant in Tucson. So you know a luxury destination like this wouldn't go halfway when it came time to design signage for their newly created nature trail. Enter the Enemy of Good Enough.

Bears and Trade Shows and Fruit Slices...Oh My!

Client:
Hero Nutritionals

Hero Nutritionals had a great product in a crowded segment. How do you stand out in a field with lots of imitators? Come to the Enemy of Good Enough, that's how.

Going an Extra Couple Hundred Miles

Client:
Sport Science Lab

When SSL had a chance to display its cutting-edge performance athletic system at the biggest volleyball show in the country, they jumped at it (no pun intended). The Enemy of Good Enough went along for the ride.

SSL's head trainer, unfortunately, got stuck in Las Vegas on his way to the show, lost his luggage, and missed the first day of the show. So we just packed up and didn't have a booth, right? WRONG! Quantum doesn't back down because of mild issues like snow-bound airports, we turn up the heat! So our President decided to run the booth himself, doing a pitch-perfect pitch and keeping interest up until the expert arrived.

It just goes to show you that even if the plane's stuck on the ground, working with Quantum will let you fly.

SPRINTER Stairs, Cal State San Marcos

Client:
NCTD

When NCTD came to us with a problem, we came up with a solution so cool they couldn't find a traditional surface to display it on. The new SPRINTER Commuter train (that we helped name and launch as well) was coming on line soon, and NCTD wanted to reach out to Cal State San Marcos students to increase ridership. The problem? They didn't have much money. And college students are pretty inured to most forms of advertising (the average American kid may watch up to 40,000 ads a year!). So what can we do?

Well, we took the billboard off the board and put it on CSUSM's stairs.

Green Before Green was Cool

Client:
SANYO Energy

Way back in the day few people concerned themselves with recycling. SANYO Energy realized they needed to offer people a way to recycle their batteries. Rechargeables back then were way more toxic than they are now. There wasn't an organization or any legislation pointing the way, so they turned to the Enemy of Good Enough to devise a solution. And did we ever!Quantum designed a tube-shaped retail package that doubled as a mail-in recycling container for spent batteries! Before you had the RBRC, you had the Enemy of Good Enough stepping in to change the conversation.

Class and Disruption in the Desert

Client:
Palm Springs Convention and Visitor's Authority

Palm Springs is a legendary resort destination, known as a playground for nearby Los Angeles' young, rich and famous. So when their Convention and Visitor's Authority wanted to spruce up their lobby who did they call, the local sign shop? Not on your life...they went to the people who don't settle for good enough: Quantum Communications.

We designed a beautiful, one-of-a-kind installed piece featuring a montage of the sights and stars of Palm Springs, featuring floor-to-ceiling glass panels with a note from each of the eight cities of the valley inscribed on them. Now the first thing that visitors to the center see isn't a picture in a frame...it's a unique take on the wonders of Palm Springs and the surrounding valley.

Sunk by a Camera? Not a chance!

Client:
Sport Science Lab

So the Enemy of Good Enough works Saturdays, that goes without saying. If the client needs it, we do it, period. We have a shoot setup for a workout DVD in a pool on a Saturday.

The shooter we hired comes back to us on Friday with a bombshell: he couldn't get an underwater camera housing to rent. This is bad: without the camera housing, our video guy can't slip into his wetsuit and film underwater. Without that, the shoot is pointless.

The Sun Shines on Your Neighbor's Rooftop Too...

Client:
HelioPower

HelioPower was having trouble standing out in a crowded solar marketplace. Green has begun reeling in the green, and they needed to be a clear choice for customers. When you've got trouble being noticed, I'd bet you call the standard, mundane, everyday agency to help you do boring things everyone's seen before.
What? NO! You call out for the Enemy of Good Enough!

How Green Is Your Battery

Client:
PowerGenix

Quantum gets to launch the World's First NiZn (Nickel Zinc) Battery, created by PowerGenix.

Why You Need Us

Now more than ever, you need the Enemy of Good Enough.

Why? Because every dollar counts. Every effort counts. Budgets are tighter. Consumers are more tight-fisted. Creative needs to not only cut through clutter but skepticism and fear. Messaging needs to be relevant and them-centric and emotional. These are not times for mediocrity...
