Small? That Doesn't Mean You Can't Compete

Sport Science Lab

This one is short, but compelling. We have a small-ish Brand—Sport Science Lab (SSL). They were even smaller at the time of this story.

SSL has an unconventional, revolutionary, Disruptive! training methodology for athletes. They don't believe in weights.
In fact, they believe that weight training actually destroys athleticism. This is not a popular position to strength coaches in football & other mainstream sports. So we looked at secondary, more open-minded sports. Like volleyball.

Well, here was a volleyball coach in Nebraska that found SSL online and was intrigued. Coincidentally ,the National volleyball championship tournament was being help in Nebraska that winter.

But SSL had no trade show budget (Actually, they had almost no budget at all). But we put together a two birds with one stone venture. The main obstacle was money (Isn't it always?). They did not have a booth, not could they afford one.

Enter the Enemy of Good Enough.

We created a booth backdrop frame out of PVC. Very inexpensive. And, for graphics, we used our in-house, large format printer. It can print sheets 24" by any length. We designed a booth backdrop that used 5 graphic strips to tell a volleyball story...with volleyball players jumping (a vertical move) & spiking. The 5 strips taped to the top of that PVC frame for the least expensive trade show booth ever.

Yet, it did not look it. The graphics were powerful, Disruptive!, benefit-oriented and supported the SSL claim of adding inches to a player's vertical jump & power to their hitting.

The show & sales call were both hugely successful, producing many leads that are still active today. And, oh yeah… a sale to that same coach who stated the whole thing.
