Sprinter Stair graphic
NCTD (North County Transit District) launched the SPRINTER light commuter rail in March 2008. The goal of the train, which makes 15 stops en route from Escondido to Oceanside, is to relieve traffic from the heavily congested Highway 78 and to provide affordable transportation to students at CSUSM.
This is where the story begins. NCTD turned to marketing company Quantum Communications, aka The Enemy of Good Enough, to help get the word out to students about the SPRINTER. And, by the way, to accomplish this on a very small budget. Quantum, whose operative word is Disruption! Decided to use the stairs, the most prominent part of the campus, for the new SPRINTER message. The school does carry the "nickname" Cal Stairs. "We needed to do something Disruptive! that could not be overlooked or ignored and something that would generate conversation. So we created a graphic of the SPRINTER bursting through a stone structure and mounted it to the main stairs on campus" stated Terry Vitiello, owner & Creative Director of Quantum Communications.
According to Tom Kelleher, Communications Director for NCTD "This is Quantum at their Disruptive best. The school officials love it, the students talk about it and we feel the message has been communicated loud & clear."
Quantum Communications is celebrating their 20th year as The Enemy of Good Enough. They develop brand strategies and implement marketing & advertising tactics to take any product or service to market. Specific core competencies include internet marketing and specifically web site design, creation of electronic media, placement of media, graphic design for print, package design, WoMM (Word of Mouth Marketing), Direct Mail, trade show graphics and campaigns and more.
